Every one of us has access to all the world’s knowledge at our fingertips. With this great power comes a notable downside. Information being published on the internet must be done so by another human being. This allows for some level of interpretation that can also include evidence and documentation. Now bear with me, this is a sensitive topic and it needs to be understood that mistakes happen. However, there is a difference between a mistake and an outright lie.
When it comes to domestic and international headlines, organizations want to be the first to publish their breaking news stories. This can offer an edge in a few ways. Generally, we as humans believe the first thing we hear. Unless we have prior knowledge of the situation. This allows the organizations that are leading with information the ability to control the narrative, whether it’s right or wrong.
You may have noticed that sometimes, it just seems like smoke and mirrors. Do you remember being a child playing backyard sports? Almost every game there was cheating, followed by a rule change to allow for it. Or a rule change to benefit the team making the rule. While we have all grown up, these tactics are still at play and quite effective. Except now, those who change the rules, control the narrative.
So, where do we go to find validated information and how can we trust it? Well, it’s just not quite that simple. In today’s world, we must use multiple resources that we trust and make our own conclusions based on the information provided. A common trend between my writings is having a healthy level of skepticism, this case is not different. This may seem like a lot, so I will leave you with this: Anything in life worth having, is worth working for. Overall, when it all seems like doom and gloom, take a moment to be thankful for your loved ones and all the blessings you have been granted, it goes a long way.
